Elk County and Cameron County were designated as the 59th Judicial District by Act No. 494, signed January 8, 1952. Before that change, Elk, Cameron, and Clinton Counties formed the 25th Judicial District. A circuit judge traveled among the counties and sat with resident associate judges.
